The Atlanta Madhatters stayed perfect on the season with a 3-1 road win over the Connecticut Jr. Rangers on Saturday night at Chelsea Piers North.
Atlanta opened the scoring midway through the first period when Louka Dorgere buried a chance set up by Jeremy Godbee at 6:22. The Hatters doubled their lead in the second when William Schaeffer struck at 8:45, assisted by Cody Skelton and Godbee.
Connecticut briefly pulled within one on a shorthanded goal from Jackson Milne at 13:32 of the second, but Atlanta answered back in the third. Ethan Finlay restored the two-goal cushion with help from an “away unknown” skater and Ben Craft at 7:45, sealing the win.
In goal, Foster Lavallee backstopped the Hatters with 33 saves on 34 shots, while the penalty kill held strong despite multiple Connecticut power plays.
Head Coach Jason Lindsay praised the team’s poise on the road:
“The boys played a smart, disciplined game tonight. We didn’t let the shorthanded goal rattle us and found a way to answer back. That’s the kind of resilience we need every night in this league.”
With the victory, Atlanta improves to 2-0-0 to start the season, and continue their early road stretch looking to build on the momentum.
